Spring 2012 trends – from neon to mixed prints

When a new season rolls around, we’re bombarded with fashion reports from magazines and blogs. Feeling overwhelmed? Give this list a look, and decide what trend you’ll be rocking this spring.

Here are five fun yet wearable trends we think might put some pep in your step.

Mixed prints
Mixing prints was always considered a fashion faux-pas – until now! Have some fun and really play around with prints. Check out this wild combination seen at the Proenza Schouler show. BTR Girl’s tip: to avoid looking like a Pantone explosion, stick with patterns in the same color family.

Lace love
With this trend, you can go subtle or full force. Choose a romantic lace tank or go all out in a lace dress, like this one by Amelia. This is a trend you can easily incorporate into your personal style.

A pop of neon
Unless you live under a rock, you’ve seen neon everywhere this season. Whether it’s killer pumps, a bright bag, or even a bold jumpsuit, the possibilities are endless. This show-stopping style by La Mer fits the bill.

Colorblocking queen
No longer reserved for the fashion-forward, colorblocking is a trend seen everywhere. Start small with colorblock shoes, which can be easily balanced out with a neutral outfit.

Peplum perfection
Michelle Williams showcased the peplum beautifully at this year’s Academy Awards when she wore a coral Louis Vuitton gown.

This spring, step out of your comfort zone and let your style senses guide you into a fresh new look!
