Q: What inspired you to design for plus-size women?

A: I started my career in regular size fashion, quickly realizing the limited choice plus-size women had at the time. So I decided to adapt my collections past size 14, which quickly took off. In 1983, I was one of the first French designers to create a plus-size line.

Q: What’s the main difference between the plus-size fashion of Europe and that of North America?

A: Plus-size European women do not want to dress differently than regular size women- they look for styles inspired by European designers.

Q: What type of woman do you envision wearing your designs?

A: Active women looking for figure-flattering, refined, and comfortable styles.

Q:What are some of your favorite trends for Summer 2012?

A: Multicolored, ethnic inspiration, deep stream, and graphic prints. Some 70’s Brigitte Bardot-inspired check fabric in black and white. Asymmetrical shape tops and bias-cut, chiffon dresses.

Wow! How refreshing. This line is fantastic, sophisticated and sexy. I am a 14 borderline size and have been on the line my whole life. I have stayed away from certain styles due to my larger physique. I am a sporty, athletic, active women, 5’8 but have a 38″ chest which holds me back from normal sizing. I do not like showing a little fold or my biceps as they are muscular and do not fit regular sized clothing. Thank you Alain Weiz for your vision and exceptional talent!
