Shop smart toys to keep them entertained for hours

Admit it – sometimes you just need a break from your kids. An extra few minutes somewhere in the day that allows you to enjoy a cup of coffee, make a phone call or read the newspaper. Well, we’ve got some nifty tricks up our sleeve to help you out. Keep your little ones occupied with toys they’ll love and you’ll magically find some of that much needed “me” time.

We suggest keeping them busy with inspirational puzzles and games like the ones found in our Melissa & Doug event. These award-winning handcrafted wooden toys never fail to fascinate and stimulate their imaginations. Designed with education in mind, these toys will help foster your child’s development and gross motor skills.   Whether you choose a crafty do-it-yourself activity, a stack and sort, magic set or dress-up play set, you’re sure to find something they’ll love.

Oscars 2013 Red Carpet style

If you caught this year’s Academy Awards, we hope you noticed what we did: the ladies delivered the fashion like never before! Instead of seeing a sea of cookie-cutter, repetitive styles, the red carpet was filled with one gorgeous dress after the next.

The big trends? Metallic, body-conscious flowing dresses, full-skirts, and creamy hues.

Family Guy funny man Seth MacFarlane hosted Hollywood’s most important soiree. He brought a nice light touch to the sometimes too-long production. While some of his jokes were a bit uncomfortable (re: Abraham Lincoln’s assassination), he was overall charming and relaxed.

Now let’s get to the good stuff:

BEST DRESSED

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille

From the embellished top to the way the light hues complemented her skin tone, this dress was absolute perfection.

Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive

One of the most talked about looks of the night, Jessica Chastain’s gold dress was the definition of Hollywood glamour. And with the red lips? Total femme fatale!

Namoi Watts in Armani Prive

The gunmetal color totally made her stand out on the red carpet. Matched with her porcelain skin and chic updo, this look was a favorite for many. Major wow.

Stacey Keibler in Naeem Khan

George Clooney’s blonde beauty looked striking in this metallic dress. The statuesque star has had many hits on the red carpet, and this stunner is no exception.

Charleze Theron in Dior Haute Couture

One of the few women who can pull off such short hair, Charleze was the epitome of timeless beauty in this divine white ensemble.

WORST DRESSED

Heidi Klum in Julien Macdonald

She’s got a supermodel body and an undeniably gorgeous face – but Heidi Klum’s golden dress was a bit too sexy and glitzy for this particular ceremony.

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino

While this look wasn’t that bad, we expected more from America’s sweetheart. This red gown completely devoured her, and we couldn’t see any of that famous body.

Anne Hathaway in Prada

We appreciate Anne giving a shout out to one of her movies, but this plain dress did nothing to flatter the Oscar winner. With all the attention she has received lately, we were hoping to see her in something more dramatic.

Jennifer Garner in Gucci

We know this one topped a lot of people’s best dressed lists – but something about it felt off. Maybe it was the strong plum color or the big poufy train in the back. The hairstyle and jewels were gorgeous, but this dress was an unfortunate miss.

Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra

Oh, Kristen. We know you don’t love to smile and make nice on the red carpet. But a little effort would be appreciated. This pale color completely washed her out and the dress itself appeared not to fit her properly.

Do you agree with our choices? Who stole the show for you?

How to create your kids’ dream bedroom

The bedroom is more than just a place to sleep for most kids. It’s their hideaway, their fortress and more. A space where they will grow, learn and dream about their future- which can make redecorating it an overwhelming task. Luckily, we’ve got a few nifty tricks to bring the fun back into children’s décor.

Most importantly, we suggest getting your child involved in designing their space by allowing them to participate in the selection process. Take their likes, dislikes, and interests into consideration to ensure that the room reflects their personality. Use easily replaceable accessories to complement their current interests that won’t cost you in the future when they want to mix it up. For example, buy pillows in the pattern or color they like, chalkboards to allow them to express their creativity, or paint the ceiling in the color of their choice.

While it may seem smart to buy furniture appropriate for your kid’s small size, children grow in the blink of an eye. Invest in furniture that they can grow into and you’ll be all set.  Your child’s furniture should be adaptable, not trendy like accessories.

Best and worst moments from the 2013 Grammys

Best makeover: Rihanna in Alaia

While we know Rihanna can be the definition of rated 18+, we were happy to see the superstar looking classy and understated. And her red Alaia dress? Simply Stunning.

Best burst of color: Katy Perry in Gucci

Katy Perry dazzled on the red carpet in her cleavage baring cut-out Gucci number. The light green complemented the singer’s striking eyes and long black hair. Way more flattering than her blue or purple mane!

Most disappointing fashion moment: Beyonce in Osman

Okay – so Queen B can take it easy after that epic Superbowl performance. However we were slightly underwhelmed by this unflattering pantsuit. Risks are cool, but we love Beyonce in flattering, feminine dresses that showcase that famous curvy bod.

Best dress code rebel: Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra

The ladies of the red carpet tried their best to abide by the new Grammys dress code of not showing too much skin. Well Kelly Rowland certainly did not leave a lot to the imagination – we loved that she brought some edge to a mostly tame soiree.

Most predictable moment: Jennifer lopez in Anthony Vaccarello

It’s simply not an awards ceremony if J-Lo is not bringing on the sexy. The hot mama did not disappoint last night. Jen, her leg, and her boy toy certainly made an entrance and an impact.

Biggest uh-oh fashion moment: Adele in Valentino

While it’s nice to see the talented singer depart from her all black uniform, this curtain-like dress did not do her any favors.

Biggest cringe-worthy male outfit: John Mayer in Brioni

We know the quirky star can be unpredictable to say the least, but this bold blue suit was just a little much. He looked like a rebellious teenage boy on his way to prom. We wonder what his prom-date Katy Perry thought…

Best performance: Bob Marley tribute

Rihanna, Bruno Mars, and Ziggy Marley got the whole audience on their feet, jamming to some of the legend’s greatest hits.

What did you think of music’s most anticipated night?

Voda Swim – for the beach body of your dreams

Still on the lookout for that perfect bikini that flatters your shape? Enter Voda Swim – the revolutionary concept in bikini design. The magic is in the patent-pending Envy Push Up bikini top.

Where ordinary bikini cups sag and wrinkle, Voda Swim bikini tops create that coveted bikini bust.

Finding a bikini top that fits can be a frustrating and disappointing experience. That’s why the young fashion model and avid beach lover Yulia decided it was time for something fresh. She disliked how bikinis made her self-conscious. The tops didn’t provide any lift or contouring, and made her breasts look non-existent.

The secret is in the cup shape which ensures a perfect fit. The Envy Push Up top visually increases the bust size by up to two cup sizes and provides great lift and support.

If you’re a small-breasted women or are looking for some lift and support, then you’ll definitely want to shop this event!
