American Music Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

With all the buzz surrounding award shows this year, it was no surprised that the American Music Awards had us sitting at the edge of our seats. While some celebrities had us oohing and aahing in delight, there were a few looks worthy of a single-brow raise. Below is our list of best and worst dressed for the 2013 AMAs.

Taylor Swift – Ms. Swift definitely won hottest look of the evening. The pop star simply glowed in a not-so-customary Julien MacDonald gold mini, Jimmy Choo gladiator sandals and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Katy Perry: This floral Oscar de la Renta gown was a departure from the revealing looks we’re used to from the songstress.

Ariana Grande: Singer Ariana Grande not only dazzled us with her vocals but her red glitter Dolce and Gabanna gown made her look like she owned the night.

Nicole Richie: Simply stunning in this white Emilio Pucci gown, Nicole Richie showed us why she is THE fashion star.

Jordin Sparks: Sparks were definitely flying when Jordin walked onto the red carpet draped in this black leather studded number by Jovani Couture. Can you say glamazon?

Emma Roberts: The drapey silhouette of this silver Lanvin gown did absolutely nothing for the actress’ petite frame.

Heidi Klum: Seriously, a super model should know better! This lace gown by Marchesa was not the most flattering fit for the usually best-dressed star.

Kelly Osborne: While this Rami Al Ali dress would be ideal for a futuristic-themed prom, it was not a fit at the AMAs. This was a definite miss for the Fashion Police starlet.  And she’s critiquing others? Right.

Zoe Saldana: There were far too many prints and patterns on this Roland Mouret spring 2014 gown.

TLC: The 90s called! Need we say more?

Kendra and Hank’s Top Holiday Picks for the Whole Family

You already know them from their hit TV show Kendra on Top; now the Basketts are playing Santa’s helpers and giving us some tips for finding the perfect holiday gifts.

Be on the lookout for BTR events with the Kendra, Hank and Hank Jr. stamps from Monday November 18th through Sunday November 24th to shop their favorite picks for everyone on their list.

And find out how the Baskett’s plan to spend their holiday this year in our Q&A with the expecting couple.

1. What’s the most memorable gift you’ve ever received and why?

A shadowbox that Hank made me with some of our best memories in it.  It was filled with things like the room key from our honeymoon, little Hank’s footprints/handprints, an anklet that meant a lot to me, our marriage certificate and more. It was the most amazing gift because I knew that he put the whole thing together himself. I would take that over jewelry any day.

2. What’s your thought process when it comes to gift-giving?

I try to shop throughout the year when things are marked down in order to find some great deals. I always look at what I am getting for the price I am paying.  Sometimes I end up buying my friends and family multiple things I know they will love because I’m shopping smart not fast.  I also like to personalize my gifts. People usually buy the things they really NEED, so I like to give a gift that means something special to the relationship I have with that individual.

3. With a hit reality show, a new baby on the way and busy parents to an active 4 year old, how do you find balance in your lives?

It’s always important to take a step back and evaluate your life to find balance. Hank and I waited until our son was almost 4yrs old for it to be the right time to try for another baby. I think the most important thing is that we aren’t afraid to take time for ourselves which is SO important. It’s the small things that we do to center ourselves and our relationship that really allow us to find balance – anything from a date night to a simple bath.

4. How do you plan to celebrate the holidays this year around? Will it be part of Kendra on Top?

Hank and I have so many different ideas right now that we are having trouble narrowing it down. On the one hand, we want to go on a family getaway – somewhere snowy or tropical. Or we may just stay at home and enjoy some quiet time together. We recently worked with HGTV and they made our house look AMAZING with holiday decor, so I don’t know if I really want to leave it! It is honestly the best our house has ever looked for the holidays. So as much as we want to get away we also really want to stay.  The new season of Kendra on Top just had its finale so you will have to stay tuned to see what happens next.

4. What will Rascal and Martini get this year for Christmas?

Two Peter Luger steak bones!

BTR Beauty Beats: Dress up your Tresses for the Holidays

Holiday party season is almost here and that means it’s the perfect time to try out a brand new look. Whether you’re playing hostess at a family gathering, going to a few cocktail parties, or attending the company fête, you’ll need the perfect up-do and make-up to polish off your look and pull THE outfit together. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite must-try celebrity styles for your holiday hair and make-up.

1-Hair: Messy side-slung braid – This is a great way to add some boho-beat to your look. Make sure it’s not too tight or schoolgirlish. And remember, after creating your perfect braid fasten it with a clear elastic band.

Make-up: A shimmery shadow and glossy lips will balance off this simple yet sweet hairstyle.

2-Hair: 20’s-inspired – Gatsby-esque hair styles are showing up everywhere, from the runway to the red-carpet. The key to this glam up-do? Finger-waves fastened loosely into a bun.

Make-up: Go full-on roaring 20’s with bold red lips and smoky eyes.

3-Darling Curls: It’s hard not to fall instantly in love with these curls –especially when the gorgeous Amanda Seyfried is the one rocking them. Get this sultry old-Hollywood look by setting it with hot rollers followed by brushing.

Make-up: Swipe on your favorite shade of red lipstick and define your eyes with a dark shadow.

So let the party-season magic begin with these tinsel-town hairstyles. Try one of these looks (or all of them) and steal the show no matter where you go. We dare you!

Discover the latest trends in home décor in our Q&A with Shirley!

1)      Where do you look to for design inspiration?

I pour over European magazines, particular anything from the UK.  I find the English style to be fun, colorful and so much more daring than anything we gravitate towards here – not to mention the architecture!

2)      Many people like the idea of updating their decor for the holiday season. What are some easy and cost efficient ways to transition your home?

I love the idea of fresh seasonal flowers and greens throughout the house, and what’s great about them at this time of year is that they really last and often dry beautifully.  Pair an arrangement with pillar candles to add a warm glow and scent.  This is an easy way to instantly dress a table top, powder room or mantle.

3)      In your opinion, what’s the biggest design faux pas?

Scale!  I find that lots of people have nice taste…they just don’t know how one piece of furnishing relates to another or how it will feel in the room.  Sofas are often overstuffed; art is too small, lamps to insignificant to anchor the room.  It’s all about proportion.

4)      Your aesthetic is described as “modern, yet warm and approachable”. Are there any design rules that you follow?

I tend to like mixing things up; Materials such as wood with metal, gold with silver color and pattern. I think having things not match so precisely lends to a more relaxed “accidental” aesthetic – even though it’s all been very well planned!

5)      What are some of the latest trends in design which can be easily incorporated in refreshing your décor?

Brass is making a comeback big time in anything from furnishings, lighting and even small accessories like vases.  The “dipped” look is very hot right now as well…painting a chair, table or anything really in a fantastic color. The trick is to only paint partially as if the item had been half “dipped” in a giant pool of pigment almost like a chocolate covered strawberry!

Street Artist Banksy

Banksy – While very little is known about the man himself, there are not many who wouldn’t recognize that name today. The elusive UK-born street artist is famous for his satirical graffiti and striking stencils. Banksy has built himself an international reputation for the politically charged messages that his art depicts.

Banksy has been on a month-long self-announced “residency” in New York City, treating fans to a new piece of art each day of October for his “Better In than Out” series. Since his touch down in the Big Apple, his controversial artwork has been popping up in the most unexpected places – building walls, vacant lots, and moving trucks.

Now you, too, can own a piece of Banksy art. Shop the Street Artist Banksy event for never-before-seen 3D canvas prints. Included are 28 brand new pieces created during his NYC residency, plus 41 of his bestselling pieces from the last 24 months. The subjects are wide-ranging, so there’s something here for everyone.

Don’t miss your chance to own a brand new Banksy print! Shop today.
