The line is aimed at the confident and strong modern woman who still retains the utmost femininity. Their pieces boast luxe fabrics, eye-catching details, and an overall sense of whimsy and fun.

They’re also trend-right – the assortment in their event showcases lace detailing, which was seen on many of Spring/Summer 2012 runways, including Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton.

Guido & Mary – the obvious choce for fashion girls who know their denim

Montreal brand Guido & Mary are already renowned in the world of premium denim, and it seems this season, they’re really hitting their stride.

Whether you’re in the market for a tried-and-true style or a piece that taps into a trend you just read about in a fashion mag, Guido & Mary have always got you covered. Their collections feature both classic silhouttes and trend-right styles, in a rainbow of colors and washes.

High fashion runways displayed a variety of interesting ideas for Spring/Summer 2012, and it seems that Guido & Mary were on the same wavelength as the designers.

And with today’s Guido & Mary event, we’re helping you tap into the trends and make them your own.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

Pastel hues are huge for the upcoming season. If you’re daunted by head-to-toe pastels (as seen at Givenchy), contrast jeans in a soft hue with a black top. This makes the trend instantly edgy yet wearable.

A high-waisted trouser, like those by Balenciaga, are on the more refined side of denim.  As long as you pair them with a tucked-in top, you’re sure to look shapely and sophisticated.

We’re loving youthful, feminine ruffle details – and so is Roberto Cavalli for Just Cavalli. Embrace the trend with this romper by Guido & Mary. With just a switch of accessories, this piece can easily transition from day to night.

We’re such huge fans of Jenni Kayne’s effortlessly elegant look, we’ll probably copy it quite closely for shopping or brunch on the weekend. For dinner and drinks, we’ll team similar wide-leg jeans with a lacy camisole and heels.

Visit the Guido & Mary event for exclusive access to fresh-off-the-runway trends.

It’s Earth Day at BTR

In honor of Earth Day, we’ve got a group of events that feature items made with our planet in mind. We all need to do our part to help the Earth, and these events are making it easy for you, by offering eco-sensitive products you can feel great about wearing and using.

Proving that you can be both conscious and cute is LVR. The brand’s range is made up of super-soft activewear pieces designed and produced in Los Angeles. And their tees, hoodies, dresses, and more are flattering and fashionable enough to wear for day-to-day activities that don’t include the gym.

But more importantly, LVR gives back. They donate monthly to the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles, whose mission is to create a safe space for women in need. On top of that, they’ve partnered with the ARCAS animal rescue organization in Guatemala, and 15% of proceeds from LVR’s event will be donated to them by the brand.

Also part of our Earth Day lineup is Core Bamboo. Their top-of-the-line kitchenware and serveware is crafted from organically-grown bamboo and vibrantly colored with lacquers derived from the cashew tree. They even provide housing and medical care for all the artisans they work with across the world.

In Bed and Bath Clearance, you’ll find pieces that’ll green-out your space, like rayon from bamboo sheets. Bamboo is an ultra-renewable and sustainable resource, and sheets made from it have an ability to stay cool that other fabrics don’t have.

Shop the items in today’s Green Is The New Black events, and show yourself – and the Earth – some love.

The perfect rainboot Hunt is over

If there’s anything more ubiquitous than super-short, cutoff jean shorts and fringe at music festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury, it’s Hunter wellies. Street style photos of show-goers almost always display the rubber boots, and they’ve been spotted on celebs like Kate Moss (a long-time fan), Rachel Bilson, Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie, and Kate Bosworth.

And it’s not just the A-listers that are enamored – Hunter boots have been featured in magazines Vogue, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, GQ, and Wallpaper – to name a few.

Visit the Hunter event to pick up your own pair, and make them even better with a pair of Hunter socks (which we think look adorable peeking out the top of wellies!).

It’s time to be among the royal ranks.

Get cooking with Rachael Ray

These days, it seems like foodies are the new fashionistas.

And whether you fancy yourself a gourmand or not, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the lady who may very well have started the wave of food fandom: Rachael Ray.

Today, we’re thrilled to offer you a selection of items from Rachael’s kitchenware line. Her products come with all the quality you’d expect from a celebrity chef’s range. But we’re also loving the thread of fun that runs throughout the line – like her signature orange handles, and the cute, clever monikers of some of the pieces (see one of our favorites above).

So take a break from speed-dialing your corner takeout place and get inspired to create your own culinary masterpiece.

Shoe trends for Spring/Summer 2012

Last week, we gave bag addicts some food for thought and some handy hints, in the form of a refresher course on what trends dominated the world’s runways during the Spring/Summer 2012 collections. This time, we’re focusing on another accessory, and the ultimate weakness for many a fashion-lover: shoes.

If you want to pick up some fab footwear for the upcoming season, we’re here to fill you in on how to be totally on-trend. Take the ideas that appeal to you, and make them your own. Get inspired.

It would be easier to list the designers that didn’t show their take on the heeled, strappy sandal. From minimal to plentiful, from unadorned to with buckles, chain, or beads, this look reigned supreme.

Another equally feminine style that cropped up often was the pointy toe. For work, dinner, or a night out, sport a pair and you’ll be completely on point.

If it’s comfort you’re after, grab a pair of cute sneakers. Think high-top styles that are more fashion than function (this is one trend we’re super-happy to get on board with!).

We’re also huge fans of the fresh, sturdy silhouette known as the flatform. A blend of a flat and a platform, we love that flatforms give us extra height, minus the off-balance feeling and teetering that can come with wedges and heels.

As for details, look for shoes that showcase woven or braided materials. These chic accents do double duty, adding interest and texture.

Check back next week for more tips that’ll help you turn the sidewalk into your very own catwalk.

Give Suri Cruise a run for her money

If you’re prepping for spring and summer, your wardrobe is slowly coming together and taking shape. Well, we think that now is a great time to be updating your little girl’s closet, too. And today, we’ve got the perfect event for that.

C’est Chouette Couture offers some of the best kidswear we’ve laid our eyes on. And we’re not the only ones taking notice of this fabulous label, either. It’s been featured in mags like In Style and American Baby, and it even took center stage on the cover of Vogue Bambini.

With a background in women’s fashion, designer Amanda Azadi creates adorable frocks that showcase bold hues and fun details. Inspired by the colors, costumes, and fabrics of the circus world, C’est Chouette – French for “that’s cute” – stands apart from everything else out there.

We think all of the brand’s whimsical styles would look right at home on Hollywood’s most fashionable tot, Suri Cruise – and on your little princess, as well.

Handbag trends for Spring/Summer 2012

If you’re anything like us, you’re currently in the process of building a sweet summer wardrobe. Here’s a little inspiration to get things started.

The Spring/Summer 2012 runway shows were held last October, while we were stocking up on cozy sweaters and warm boots. So we think it’s time for a little refresher course.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing our top five picks from the S/S 2012 collections to help get your fashion juices flowing. This time around, we’re honing in on bags.

Sure, some ladies will pluck these luxe accessories right off the runway. But for those looking to pick up their new bag at the mall (or of course, on BTR), we have a few pointers to capture the catwalk look.

For silhouettes, go for structure all the way. Satchels and totes ruled – there wasn’t a slouchy hobo in sight. Clutches of all sizes had a very strong presence, so if your lifestyle allows it or if you’re willing to skimp on practicality, snap one up.

Snake print was absolutely everywhere, with alligator and croc coming in at a close second. Seen in both realistic colors and unexpected hues like lime and turquoise, reptile print is the look to go for this season, hands down.

Many designers went for mixed textures and materials – wicker, leather, and fabrics were blended in many collections. Choose a piece using this concept for a whimsical, unique look.

Check in with us next week for more up-to-the-minute trends that’ll have you looking divine as the temperature climbs!
