Summer days in the sun are right around the corner. Now’s the time to get a brand new swimsuit that is both flattering, comfortable, and affordable.

Today on CBS’ The Couch, BTR is featuring bikinis and tankinis from Voda Swim. Voda Swim is a new concept in swimsuit design. What sets them apart from the competition is their patent pending Envy Push Up bikini/tankini top created by international model Yulia.

Create your dream shape in this incredible bikini top. It has no wires, it increases your bust by 1 to 2 cup sizes AND it provides amazing cleavage, lift and support.

Made with XtraLife Lycra fiber that resists chlorine and other pool chemicals 5-10 times longer than regular elastane, allowing garments to keep their shape and remain beautiful.

Forget conventional swimwear! Check out our Voda Swim event now! Get the entire look, both top and bottom, for under $100! Pictured are tankini tops for $29.99 and adjustable bottoms for only $19.99!

Buyers’ Picks

Our BTR buyers know style. Not only are they the most fashionable people we know, they live and breathe the latest trends so that they can find the best deals on the items you crave.

Today, we caught up with three of our buyers and asked them about their own personal style. They also picked their favorite items from their events, so look out for our “Buyers’ Picks” stamps on items they love.

Alex Kertzer, Home Buyer

How would you define your style?

I would define my style as classy, but with an edge. I wear a lot of black and white, and sometimes red. I can never leave the house without accessorizing! I’m a big fan of costume jewelry to complement any outfit. Also, whether it’s my turtle ring or leopard-print scarf, I always add on something animal-related.

What trends are you looking forward to for summer?

I’m loving bright lipsticks, pleated skirts and dresses, as well as cut-out designs.

Look for Alex’s favorite picks in bedding and fun lighting today! Check out the following events: LED Bright Lights at 9am ET as well as Summer Duvets, and 1000TC Sheet Sets at 5pm ET.

Annie Moralli, Footwear Buyer

How would you define your style?

I tend to wear clothes that are comfortable, yet also look good. I believe that you should wear things that look and feel good on you, before worrying about trends. That being said, my wardrobe is a mix of classic staple pieces and elegance, with a hint of trendiness.

What trends are you looking forward to for summer?

Well, as the shoe buyer, I have to stay ontop of the latest footwear fashions. I’m really glad that the gladiator sandal trend is back, as well as single sole pumps. I also love detailed and embellished flat sandals because you can still be feminine as well as comfortable.

Get a whole new shoe collection for summer with Annie’s picks in footwear. Look out for our Matisse, Summer in St. Maarten and Puma for Women events.

Jeremy Levine, Buyer for Eyewear, Women’s Denim, Men’s Apparel and Accessories (Self-proclaimed King of the Buyers)

How would you define your style?

Business casual. I can usually be found wearing a dress shirt with a pair of nice jeans. I don’t shy away from patterns or brighter colors.

What trends are you looking forward to for summer?

I love that the double-breasted blazer is back in action. Also, prints are not just great for women’s clothing; they’re making an appearance in menswear too!

Our Coogi event will have you looking and feeling your best with statement-making shirts. Jeremy has hand-picked his favorites!

Getting Candid: Interview with Model Alisa Pysareva

Alisa Pysareva Interview_blog image

Brains, blonde and beautiful! There is no mistaking that Alisa Pysareva was born to model. And while it appears that she has hit the genetic lottery, her look is not the only reason why we adore her as the face of BTR.

We recently sat down to have a candid interview with Alisa where she opens up about modeling, plastic surgery and her hopes for the future. Read our Q&A with the sexy, yet very down-to-earth model below!

BTR – Most people think the life of a model is very glamorous. What do you think people would be most surprised to know about modelling?

Alisa – The life of a model is not as glamorous as most people think. Modeling in general is very physical work. A model needs to be healthy and fit not only for her appearance, but also to handle the long hours of standing on high, sometimes ill-fitting heels in less than ideal environments. A professional model must also be easy going, friendly, patient and prepared at all times – including those long hours of waiting backstage or at casting calls. There is a lot of competition and so it’s important to always leave a good impression. Finally, modeling is not always about being beautiful.  To be a successful model you need to understand the basics of marketing because your #1 job is to sell a product.

BTR – Do you always feel beautiful, or are you more critical about your appearance given it’s your livelihood?

Alisa – Of course I don’t wake up each morning with full makeup and hair done like you see me in photos or on the runway. However, I’m not very critical about my appearance. I do undergo criticism from different clients and the public, but I don’t take it personally because I understand that “beauty” is subjective. For me, beauty comes from within, from confidence, intelligence and good manners. As for modelling, it’s a matter of preferences: some people like brunettes with dark eyes or curvier bodies, but you can’t please everyone!  I’m happy with my Russian features.

BTR – Do you have a favorite body part? Least favorite?

Alisa – No, I don’t have a favorite or least favorite body part. I’m grateful for everything I have.

BTR – Being in such a competitive industry where youth is idolized, do you feel pressured to undergo plastic surgery?

Alisa – The only surgery I’ve ever done is laser eyesight correction. I’ve never done any cosmetic surgeries and I’m not planning to. I don’t judge those who do cosmetic surgery but I do find it sad when I see 20-somethings in this industry who feel the need to. Youth is idolized, but for me aging is natural and beautiful. I draw inspiration from women of all ages! Moreover, I’m very happy to observe that the commercial market is changing and you are seeing more and more models in their 30s and 40s occupying advertisement campaigns.

BTR – If we’re being honest, many of us think that models are constantly dieting. Do you diet? What are some of your favorite foods to eat?

Alisa – While some models do need to diet, I’m very lucky with my genes and fast metabolism. But it doesn’t mean that I don’t take care of myself. Skinny does not always mean healthy and for me health is a priority. I don’t have a specific diet but I believe that everything should be balanced. Plenty of water, fruits, vegetables and berries are a must for me. I don’t take any supplements simply because I believe that it’s better for you if all your vitamins and minerals come from food. I’m not a vegetarian, but I do prefer fish over meat, and eggs are always in my diet. I also love freshly squeezed juices. I really have a lot of fun mixing up all sorts of vegetables, fruits and herbs. My “classic” juice is a carrot, apple and orange mix with a touch of ginger. I have to admit though that I do spoil myself sometimes. Especially when I have cravings for something sweet.

BTR – We know that you studied biochemistry. If you weren’t a model, what would you want to do?

Alisa – Yes, I did study biochemistry and before I started modelling full-time I was either going to go to medical school or business school. I love to study. Even after I stopped university you would find me with a book in my hands. As a matter of fact, I’m currently involved in an online business management program and I am really enjoying it!

BTR – If you were stranded on a deserted Island what would you bring?

Alisa – Lol! That’s a funny question! Water, a knife, matches, a warm blanket and a cell phone to call for a helicopter after I finish my fried prey for dinner.

BTR – What is your ultimate life goal? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Alisa – In 10 years I see myself surrounded by my own healthy, happy, mutually loving family. Career wise, I see myself running a business. Perhaps in luxury bedding.

Welcome to BTR home: our expanded homegoods store

You asked, we listened. Beyond the Rack is thrilled to announce the expansion of our homegoods store, now known as BTR home. With 4-6 new events daily, your home can finally reflect your distinctive personal style. BTR home is also a great way to take advantage of our flat-rate shipping costs. No matter what or how much you buy, we’ll deliver it to your door for one set price.

In the coming months a lineup of celebrity experts will help you shop BTR home by choosing their favorite items. To kick things off, Dina Manzo, of HGTV’s Dina’s Party, has selected her favorites from our first seven days of events. We also sat down with her to dish about her show, her life, and why she’s wild about about all things design.

“I’m thrilled to be part of BTR home’s launch. It’s great to see sites like Beyond the Rack move into the homegoods market with popular brands like KitchenAid, Denby, and Cuisinart at such incredible prices. I reviewed the selection beforehand and picked my favorite items from the week ahead. I especially love the fondue set, crystal glasses, and cappuccino set—they’re all perfect for entertaining. I also adore the array of bedding and linens—especially the down comforters. My hectic lifestyle requires a lot of travelling, so it’s important to own some stylish luggage. I’m loving animal prints this season, so the leopard luggage was an easy choice. Happy shopping everyone—make sure to look out for my choices all week long!”

Q: You have a fabulous new show on HGTV called Dina’s Party. What can your fans expect to see?

A: Lots of over-the-top design mixed with helpful money-saving tips along the way. Of course there’s also lots of laughs and a behind-the-scenes look at “my reality”.

Q: How did you become involved in home decorating and party planning?

A: I’ve always been interested in design. While going crazy on bed rest with my daughter I started to take design courses and once my daughter was born I jumped right into interior design. About 6 years ago I started to make the change-over to event planning after noticingI was able to be more creative with designing a party for my clients rather than designing their homes. Event planning is not as glamorous as it appears. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and put in lots of long hours.

Q: What are some of your favorite décor pieces you have in your home?

A: My artwork. Art is so personal, and it must speak to me in some way.

Q: How would you describe your decorating style?

A: I find things I love and then find the perfect spot for them, so I would say meaningful.

Q: What are some home décor trends for fall/winter 2012?

A: Other than neutrals, I’m loving the color purple this season. Load up on lots of interesting textures, but keep the patterns simple and clean.

Be sure to look for Dina’s very own line of jewellery and to catch Dina’s Party on HGTV, where you can get an insider’s look at how she creates the most lavish events. Get inspired by a true decorating connoisseur.
